WRITING RETREAT
Cambridge, June 14th-17th 2026
A writing retreat with structured discussions around process and marketing, in the wonderful surroundings of Cambridge University's Madingley Hall.
Join James Blatch & Cara Clare and a host of friendly fellow authors as we kick back, chat, write, visit historic Cambridge and learn from each other.
Last year 22 of us came together, many strangers to each other and we left as firm friends who still chat on a lively What's App group.

THE RETREAT
Join us for a relaxing retreat where we write, talk about writing & marketing, eat, drink and generally be merry.
Each day will start with a structured discussion on an area of writing or marketing. There will of course be a chance to raise your own questions and topics.
After that, we have free writing time. Sprints take place in the main meeting room, but equally you are free to find a shady spot in the historic grounds of Madingley Hall.
Last year, guided by those taking part, we extended the time together in the afternoon, talking about everything from Facebook Ads to TikTok and beyond.
WHAT'S INCLUDED?
I've tried to make the event pretty much 'all-inclusive'. The only thing we don't include is lunch, as we figured people wouldn't want a cooked breakfast, a three course dinner and a three course lunch (the only pre-paid option). However there is a cafe and bar on site and it does a good range of bar snacks and sandwiches.
Here's what you do get:
Three nights accommodation at historic Madingley Hall in a single or double ensuite room.
Breakfast on the 15th, 16th & 17th.
Three Course Dinner at Madingley Hall on the
14th and 16th
Three Course Dinner at The Chop House in Cambridge on the 15th
A Ghost Tour of Cambridge
A communal room for writing and discussion all day on the 15th and 16th
A pub quiz on the evening of the 16th
Oh, and a life time of new author friends!
THE COST
Single Accommodation: £699+VAT (£838.80)
Double or Twin Accommodation (each): £590+VAT (£708)
One person in a double room: £785+VAT (£942)
I have also introduced a four month payment option on all rooms, at no extra cost.
Unfortunately we have to add 20% VAT which is passed straight onto the UK Government, regardless of your country of origin.
UK VAT Registered company owners can claim it back.
